Will Fish for Fun is this Saturday, September 11th at the Burlington Waterfront.Bring your kids, ages 2 to 14, for a day of fishing. Registration forms are available at www.willfishforfun.com.
Learn how to fish (some poles available for FREE!), weigh-in your fish for prizes (largest fish, smallest fish, and more). Biggest prize includes a lifetime fishing license. Lunch is available. See you there!
The event will take place on beautiful Lake Champlain on Sunday, October 11. The Regatta features local business leaders, students, and others racing in giant hollowed-out gourds, in a competition of size and speed. This year’s event will feature a Pumpkin Festival with food vendors, activities and entertainment located on the Burlington Waterfront.
While it sounds both impossible and crazy, it is possible to row a pumpkin! The boats are giant carved pumpkins, which are decorated and placed into the lake with forklifts, and raced as if they were kayaks. Last year’s event was featured on MSNBC and spoofed on Saturday Night Live and made the Sports Illustrated “Most Ridiculous Competitions” list.
The Giant Pumpkin Regatta & Festival is a benefit for PILOT (Program to Inspire Leadership, Opportunity, and Thought), a youth leadership program for area high school students run by Linking Learning to Life and the Lake Champlain Regional Chamber of Commerce. For details contact Cari Kelly at
